Magazine Monday- Vogue Fashion Editorials Around the World

Fashion, or more specifically-what is fashionable, undoubtedly varies from country to country. Because of culture, facial features and body types, influences, climate, and other factors, people from different parts of the world are drawn to differing fashions.

However, high fashion speaks all languages and crosses every country border.  This type of fashion that is featured in the always artistic and beautiful magazine editorial, is universally appreciated.  Editorials each have a specific mood and a specific look in mind, but from season to season, from country to country, they all convey the same sort of message to us.  Picturing beautiful women wearing beautiful clothing always slightly arrogant in their unattainable state, the editorial calls to us, making us long to obtain that majestic perfection we see in print.

Vogue Magazine has subsets in almost every part of the world now, so in a discussion about editorials in different countries, this magazine gives us plenty of pictures from all over the world to compare.

Magazine Monday - Spotlighting Harper's Bazaar September Issue 2012

I received yet another big September magazine! Last week, I highlighted ELLE's Sepetember issue, but this time it's Harper's Bazaar! I was excited by the super awesome Gwen Stefani cover and gorgeous pink flower Alexis Mabille couture hat! It's super editorial, and an awesome shot! Flawless cover, no??

I love HB's gorgeous lists with pretty items! Green is in, and these jade beauties are stunning! I think this color goes well with a lot of others, so popping accessories with it could be an awesome idea!

I love the old antiquity theme that is emerging, and this gold and black page is perfect! I think clothes are being beautifully made these days, while becoming a bit more affordable. Jewels, golds, and furs are always gorgeous in the fall!

Another September issue and another success! I really like Harper's Bazaar for their articles, along with their gorgeous editorials! I feel they have a larger array of interesting lifestyle pieces mixed in with amazing fashion - so I would definitely recommend picking up this one today!

It's not like the cover would stray you elsewhere! Gorgeous!

Sunday Funday - DIY Color Block Tote

Hello, readers!

I have a lovely DIY for you today. Super easy and super cute.

If I didn't already mention it, I work at a craft store, so I'm always finding inspiration for new projects.

As an employee there, I also get to take classes for free. So my sister and I signed up for a Wilton cake decorating class. It starts next Tuesday and I can't wait.

After looking over the syllabus and supply list, I realized that I do not have an appropriate bag to carry my cake decorating supplies in. That is when the light bulb went on. Instead of spending too much money on a bag I am not crazy about, I'll just decorate my own tote bag. I am still loving the neon and colorblocking trend, so I combined the two together for this DIY.

I found my tote bag in the t-shirt aisle at Michael's. It's an off white color and was only $3.99 (*$2.39 after using my 40% off coupon). I started by taping off the section that I wanted to paint. I only had masking tape, so you can't see it on the bag, but you can see the ends of the tape. Use your imagination to connect the two pieces of tape.

I love neon pinks, purples, and especially yellow-greens (Have you seen my bathing suit?).

They make up the majority of my wardrobe and accessories, so I opted for a neon orange fabric paint.

I used Tulip fabric paint in Fiesta Orange. Not only is it neon, but it has a slight sparkle to it as well.

All I did was paint the bottom of the bag, under the tape.

After the paint dried and I removed my tape, I realized the bag still needed something.

Enter some gold sequin trim!

I hot glued the trim right where the off white ends and the orange begins.

Hot glue was kind of a pain to work with, so next time I think I will try to use fabric glue instead.

Here is a close up.

I absolutely love it! I'm not really a fan of orange, but it works really well with the off white bag and the gold trim. It is simple, yet trendy.

Most importantly, it will be the perfect bag to tote my class supplies in!

Celeb Saturday - Not So Bad Bad Celebrity Fashion

When I recently clicked on the "What Were They Thinking" on OMG Yahoo, I was really surprised; I completely loved the first look! And as I began to click, I saw a few more outfits that were not worthy of calling out a celebrity for looking awful!

This got me thinking - who else was falsely accused of not looking fierce recently? Taste is so subjective and I want to give a boost to these celebrities who were, in my eyes, wrongly accused of committing a fashion crime by big websites in August!

Okay, maybe the pants are a little much - but her amazing body and that top are sick! I love how it wraps around her. Think of these pieces separately, couldn't they work so well with other garments - perhaps some solids? I think you look fierce, Ali - dare to be fun! Work!

Yes her make up looks a bit of a mess, but I like this short and sheer shirt dress!

Paris Hilton

Okay, maybe she wears these a lot, but can you blame her? I love obnoxious prints, and tall people can always pull of maxis! It looks nice against her skin, and I think she looks fierce!

The 70's are totally in, so deal with it! I love the color scheme going on with each brother and printed button ups are totally in! I think they look fun, whatever!

This blue is GORGEOUS on her and I love that cut out! It's a tasteful element of surprise! And those metallic toed shoes are fabulous!
