Freaky Friday - SEX Appeal

The word "freak" has many different meanings.  It can mean scary, weird, edgy, different- or it can be used to describe a woman's (or man's) sex appeal. We've all heard the word used this way, and it's usually used in a racy context- describing the way a woman displays her sex appeal in the bedroom.  I think that we can stretch this particular meaning of the "freak" and use it to examine the way women express their individual sexuality through clothing.

We'll look at some of my favorite bloggers, some of my favorite celebrities, and then we'll end by looking at my somewhat subdued sexiness.  I admire that sassy confidence other women exude through their clothing choices and their attitudes, and I hope that I can use this inspiration to embrace my inner sex kitten!

 A Keene Sense of Style

 Fashionably Broke

Some of my favorite bloggers look undoubtedly sexy flashing some leg this summer in silhouettes that aren't skin tight, but still outline the female form.  Each girl looks sexy in a different way- from red-lipped vixen, to laid-back girly.  Both men and women would agree that these three are freakishly beautiful and individually sexy.

Celebrity Sexy:
 Rihanna

 Kate Bosworth

 Selena Gomez

With the help of stylists and designers, celebrities spend time and money developing a perfect personal style.  All three of my celebrity fashionistas have found a version of "sexy" that fits within their established personal style.  All three show hints of skin in one area, while keeping the other areas of the body covered- making their looks sexy but not skanky. From Rihanna's flashy in-your-face sexuality, to Selena's young- and-fresh hint of sexiness- we see how sex appeal can be expressed within any woman's personality.

I've never thought of myself as particularly sexy.  I feel dorky and clumsy- and because of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome my body acts like the body of an elderly person.  However, I do like to show a flash of skin when I'm going out at night (when I'm feeling especially sassy).  Despite my physical impairments, I have an individual sort of sex appeal- as does every woman!

Embrace it, ladies!

How do you express your sexuality through your ensembles? And which sexy look out of the above looks is your favorite?

Magazine Monday- Magazines Vs. Blogs (Like Anthony and Elle)

Fashion Magazines and Fashion Blogs have many aspects in common. The two use a lot of the same elements to create publications that are intended to inspire an audience. However, though magazines and blogs are put together very similarly and use many of the same topics, the ways these topics are approached are often very different.

How better to illustrate how some popular topics are delivered to an audience within a magazine compared to within a blog, than to use topics found on our own blog-Anthony & Elle? Blogs may have been originally inspired by magazines, but I think it is our intent that makes our content slightly different than magazine content. Not only do we bloggers wish to inspire our audience, we hope to do so while RELATING to them.  So, which type of publication is better-magazines or blogs? You be the judge!

"Outfit posts are such an interesting idea. What a great way to display our fashion choices and to in turn, be inspired by the fashion choices of other real people.  It's like street-style photography, but more personal". (Elle Michelle)

Celebs in Magazines

"I'm a big fan of comparing people in outfits! Not because you can be mean and point out flaws, but it's a good indicator on what might work on YOU if you have a similar build, skin tone, or hair cut as a certain celebrity!" (Anthony Carmen)

Trends in Magazines
"You have to interpret what’s hot to make it work on yourself. If tweed suits are in but you’re not a suit kind of girl, wear the jacket with jeans and a pair of Converses." (Rachel Zoe)

"This look is easy to create and even easier to wear.  It works with any personal style- whether you are a girly- girl, an Anthony Carmen lover of structure, a funky cool chick, a punk rocker, a polished lady, or anything in between." (Elle Michele)

And the winner is....?

Sunday Funday- Inspirational Looks by Fellow Fashion Bloggers

Fashion bloggers are some of the most inspirational people in the fashion industry. Unlike celebrities, bloggers reach an audience of real people AS real people. Most wear pieces of clothing that are accessible to the masses, and all show off personal styles that are uninfluenced by the pressure of being in the public eye.  We bloggers show off our personal styles simply for the pleasure that fashion brings. I hope that we can all continue to inspire one another for a long time to come.

Here are some of my favorite blogging fashionistas:

Ally of Gumboot Glam:
Ladylike with a touch of sexy glamor, Gumboot Glam's Ally shows off body-hugging classics in a classic yet modern way.

Zahra of Love Zahra:
Zahra's style is edgy with polish.  She starts with classic silhouettes and clean lines, and then using colors and accessories, makes every ensemble look interesting.

Lydia of Fashion Influx:
Lydia of Fashion Influx shows us a style that is funky downtown cool.  She mixes girly pieces with tough-girl boots, adds a bit of sex appeal, and creates ensembles that are without-a-doubt perfection.

Olya of Creative Side of Me:
Olya appears to be a cute and bubbly girly girl in her beautiful photographs, but her look isn't all princess. She knows how to mix a bright color or an animal print into an outfit to create a killer look.

If you got it, flaunt it girls! (And we all have it) ;).
