So as I said on Sunday, I will be out of town and without internet access this weekend, so the next DIY project comes a few days early!
Whenever I go shopping, I always keep my eyes open for a good deal.
I found these solid black flats in Walmart for only $5.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to revamping these plain flats.
I like sparkle, bling, and almost anything gaudy, so I decided to create my own pair of glitter flats.
This DIY is super simple. You only need three supplies, other than the shoes:
Mod Podge, glitter, and a foam brush.
I went with purple glitter, because what girl doesn't want a flashy pair of purple glitter flats?
Next, mix the Mod Podge and glitter together. You won't need to use it all, so just use your judgment.
You can always add more to your mixture.
Once you've mixed the two, all you have to do is brush it onto your flats.
The Mod Podge dries clear, so don't worry about the white parts.
I brushed the first coat on, which left a lot of empty spots. So once the first coat dried, I dabbed globs of my mixture wherever there was no glitter.
I let the second coat dry overnight, and this is what I had the next morning:
The purple is totally sweet, but I almost wish I had used red glitter. Then, I would have my very own pair of ruby slippers. I still love these though, and will definitely debut them on my next night out on the town.
I will also be hitting up Walmart again for some more $5 flats. They are so perfect to customize and decorate to your own style. I'm thinking acrylic rhinestones will be glued on to the next pair :)
How would you design your own pair of flats?
