Magazine Monday- Fashionista.com, Celebs Rocking the "Marilyn" Look 50 Years After Her Death

Marilyn Monroe is undoubtedly the most iconic blonde bombshell.  She was by today's standards, a "plus-size" model/actress-but in the 1950's her physique was unmatched for desirability. Although I can't understand why people constantly use her quotes in facebook posts, I cannot deny that the woman was beautiful. And I can't blame women (especially celebrities and fashionistas) for being inspired by her style and confidence. I'm skinny and brunette, but when I want to amp-up my sex appeal for a night out (or a night in) I channel THE blonde bombshell herself- Ms. Monroe.

Fashionista.com's Nora Crotty says  "Five decades [after her death], women wearing curled blonde coifs, full lips painted red, heavy lids, and figure hugging gowns still rule the red carpet, trying to emulate Marilyn’s bombshell look".  Since celebrities try to channel her look so often, the Marilyn look has become timeless and absolutely recognizable. Who wouldn't want to look like a bombshell on the red carpet, after all?

Celeb Saturday- Celebrities on the Streets

I know that everyone adores and is inspired by real-girl street style. Seeing how others put together interesting admire-worthy outfits to wear every day is inspiring.  So for this Celeb Saturday I put together a collection of my favorite street style photographs, but this time the girls on the streets are celebrities!

Even though these fashionable celebrities are far from being "real girls", they still have errands to run and lunch dates to attend.  And it's interesting and inspiring to see the outfits they put together to wear doing the same activities we do.  

This summer we're seeing the most fashionable female celebs wearing flowing skirts and short-shorts in bright colors or head-to-toe chic neutrals. They're loving a bright-colored bag and are paying special attention to their stop-you-in-your-tracks footwear. My favorite outfits belong to Miranda Kerr and Whitney Port in pastel brights.

Twofer Tuesday-Velvet

Velvet isn't just for Halloween costumes and period movie sets anymore, girls! Velvet is having a major fashion moment on the red carpet, and the look is just as wearable for real girls. Although the fabric is unavoidably dramatic, with the right feminine touches the look can be edgy-glamorous instead of outlandish.

We're seeing all sorts of garments constructed in velvet-from shoes to gowns. Celeb Saturday-Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel has a style aesthetic that none of the other celebrities in Hollywood showcase.  That's why I love her and why I've chosen her and her style to spotlight this Celeb Saturday. Deschanel's clothing choices have a distinctly vintage vibe, mixed touches of girly and quirky. She stays true to that signature personal style whether she's on the streets, shooting a magazine spread, making an advertisement, or posing on the red carpet. She's almost always seen wearing black tights and a severe bang. And her attitude is always cute and fun- never an ounce of diva in that face!

Celeb Saturday - Terry Richardson

I'm a big fan of celebrity photography, and a big fan of Terry Richardson's easy, often backgroundless photographs that just show the beauty of celebrities and just let them play with the camera. As a fan of Andy Warhol, I just love looking at people, and the rawness of the camera: that's why I'm spotlighting Terry's Diary and some of his great photos for Celeb Saturday!
