Thrifty Thursday-Thrift Store Finds

This Thrifty Thursday I actually went thrifting! I love shopping at the thrift store because as my grandma always said "you never know what you're gonna find".  Today I went to the local salvation army and found a bunch of great pieces and I only spend about $15.00. The pieces I purchased are all vintage, or at least vintage-looking (which is just as fun). You'll see a huge 80's tunic top that I'll use as a glamorous bathing suit coverup and some gorgeous mosaic earrings that I bought for only $1.99!

Some people are irked by the idea of wearing things that some unknown person wore before-but I think thrifted clothes are more interesting than new ones. They tell a story from the past, and it's so much fun to incorporate that story into the present.

Check out my finds:

Here's that fun 80's tunic top. It's a very large size, but I think it'll look great belted over a bathing suit (or over tights in the fall).

I found this really pretty floral tie-collar blouse. This is also a size or two too big for me, but tucked into a skirt or skinny pants it'll look blowsy, not sloppy.

I'm in LOVE with this bright floral-print 70's maxi-skirt. The length of the skirt and the colors are right-on trend, which is interesting since the piece wasn't recently manufactured. Trends really do recycle themselves!

Here's a basic white belt. It's not vintage or especially interesting, but it seems like I can only find belts to fit my small waist at the thrift store!

These earrings are so pretty and feminine.  The mosaic painted-glass-window look is so interesting, and matches a necklace I bought at a flea market a few years ago.

Last but not least, I found this cute pin with my initial on it!

Which piece is your favorite? And how would you style it? I'd love to hear some ideas about how to style my new vintage finds.

xoxo

  1. I loved the accesories but the floral top and the tunic are amazing too. the floral op I would style it with some distressed shorts or jeans to add contrast. I would make it shorter so that it looks kinda cropped. And the tunic I would paired with black leather shorts and nude wedges to go out or I would put it inside a high- waited pair of flared jeans. COuld you please consider following each other? www.shineonbyandrea.blogspot.com

  3. Love your thrifty Thursdays - Grandma is right....It's amazing the items one finds in thrift shops. For some it's the thrill of the hunt. On a recent visit to a local thrift, I found a Chanel skirt, photographed it and posted it online....it sold within 3 minutes for 400.00. Not bad considering i paid 6.00 for it. Much better than the stock market!!
